This week is our board meeting at 5PM and our party at 6:30. Both will be in person events. I sure hope everyone can come to the coming out party which marks our reuniting for  in-person meetings. After this week, it is our intention to have hybrid meetings in which you can choose in person or zoom. We will have good food, entertainment and drinks.

It occurred to me that some in the club may not know much about our new president, Paulette (P.J.) Dyon. She will become the 19th president of Mountain Foothills Rotary in July. P.J. has been to PETS and is preparing for her term. She has been getting to know those with whom she has not had occasion to interface. Her team is in place and is planning a board retreat in June to decide on goals and focus for the year. I asked her for some key facts about herself, and I will summarize them for your use.

P.J. was born in Crete Illinois, a rural farming community. These rural roots explain her love of gardening and equestrian pursuits. In 1983 she began he career in banking at the First National Bank and Trust of Chicago. She spent 21 years in the Retail Banking division of the bank. She served a AVP of Banc One leading a reorganization of the online/telephone banking group. She spent time in community banking with two local banks.

She and husband, Doug Hambley moved to Lakewood in 2009 with a transfer by his employer.  She became the facilities manager for the Dyon-Hambley Partnership before retiring in 2016. P.J.  has served with distinction as our Program Chair. She was the treasurer of Golden Rotary and served as District Interact Chair. While a member of the Wheaton Illinois Rotary club she was a member of the Uganda Service Project Team. P.J. was also appointed as a Jefferson County Special Advocate for CASA.

Her leadership and Rotary experience will be welcome as she begins her term.

It’s time to register for this year’s District Conference. It will be a hybrid which means part will be by zoom and some in person by a limited number of personal attendees. The event will be May 6, 7 and 8th. Register at the district 5450 website….  https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50085
