The Sun Valley Youth Center is a small nonprofit that helps youth, families and community in the lowest-income neighborhood in Denver to reach their full potential. The neighborhood is located just south of the football stadium. It has the highest crime rate in the city, is a food desert, and has no accessible green spaces. The average family income in Sun Valley is $14,000 per year.
The Sun Valley Youth Center provides after school programming during the school year and full-day programming in the summer. All of our youth come from a background of poverty and trauma. We focus on mental health support, recreation, education, and nutrition to help break the cycle of poverty.
