Wed. is a board meeting night. All are welcome at  the 5:00PM board meeting
Twenty years ago our club was chartered on Halloween.  Since we have many members who were not part of the chartering, I thought it would be appropriate to tell the chartering story.  The Evergreen club was contemplating making some changes including moving from a mid-day club to become a morning club.  That change made sense to some members, but to all.
That disagreement along with a difference of what members thought should be the focus of the club caused a few members to think about forming a new club. The group thinking of a new club favored a focus on Evergreen projects and were not fond of the evergreen club’s focus on mostly international projects
The new club was born and the founding members who are still members are Nan Jarvis, Bill Skewes, Larry Madden, Bob Zavodsky, Bob Jones, Bud Wilkinson and me.  Just as our country couldn’t have been founded without Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, we would never become a new club without Bill Skewes the first president and Mat Matson, the then District Governor.
The bi-laws had to be written and the club decided to ignore the custom of requiring 60 % attendance believing that if the meetings were worthwhile, Rotarians will come. The fledgling club decided to make meals optionally in order to keep dues low.
Since the founding, much has happened and many goals accomplished.  Be sure to be there this week, An anniversary cake will be served.
