This week we again will meet at the lake house. Bill will be setting up shop at around 4. A couple of helpers would be good. Last time PJ brought a large amount of food for snacking. This time, we all need to bring some snacks to share. You can bring sandwiches or other dinner food or use the food trucks. It should be another fun evening with an outstanding band.

We have a new member…. Kelly Garrot. Here is some basic information about him. Make it a point to get to know Kelly.  Kelly is a 30-year resident of Evergreen, married to Maria for 32 years with three daughters Holly, Eden, and Lorena.  Holly is an ornithologist living in Costa Rica, Eden is a graphic artist working freelance, and Lorena recently graduated in history from CSU and is a tour guide at the Georgetown Railroad.  Kelly retired in 2014 from a career in engineering designing process control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants including much of the Evergreen Metro system.  He still does occasional engineering consulting work for several past customers.

Since retiring, he has obtained his EMT certification and is a Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED instructor.  He has recently volunteered for Engineers Without Borders (with trips to El Salvador, Sierra Leone, and Kenya), Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Warren Village, American Red Cross and Highland Rescue.  He has been serving on the West Jefferson County Metro District Board of Directors for a number of years with only Bob Zavodsky serving for a longer time.  Kelly enjoys spending time in the outdoors including bicycling, hiking, backpacking, and sailing.  He completed the Ride the Rockies bicycle tour this year.  That’s a formidable accomplishment.
At our recent off-site much was discussed.

Some notable items were to do a better job welcoming, orienting, and supporting new members. It was also agreed that we can do more to support the RI fund which supports us with grants. There was also an agreement that our social media presence must improve. We still need a PR chair for this to occur, however P.J. is filling this need temporarily. This is just a top line synopsis. More information will be forthcoming at the upcoming club assembly.
