Update on Rotary Wildfire Ready
Area 8 AG Marianne Temple has nominated Rotary Wildfire Ready
for the People's Choice Awards for best community service project,
to be announced at the District Conference on December 5...
here's the nomination

Rotary Wildfire Ready and Rotarians for Wildfire Readiness
(Rotary District 5450 – People’s Choice Award Nomination)

Rotary Wildfire Ready (RWR) is a community-based project designed to help keep residents safer from the threat of wildfire. Since its inception in 2019, the RWR project has partnered with local fire districts and community leaders to help residents become more knowledgeable, engaged and prepared for wildfire. The RWR project is the first of its kind Rotary project that emphasized “Wildfire Preparedness” verses a wildfire disaster relief project. This Rotary project maintains a highly sought-after educational wildfire website along with printed brochures for users to access. The RWR materials have been delivered to thousands of Colorado residents at multiple community events since 2019. From 2025-2026, the RWR website saw an increase in new views by 380%!  In June 2026, the RWR Leadership Team launched Rotarians for Wildfire Readiness which is an advocacy coalition of Rotary Clubs in wildfire prone areas across the United States. The Rotarians for Wildfire Readiness program seeks to become Rotary’s premier wildfire resilience initiative by equipping Rotary clubs in wildfire-prone regions with the knowledge, partnerships and resources to help create wildfire ready communities. The RWR Leadership Team is empowering and training each new Rotary Club Partner on how to replicate the RWR project within their local community. This enhanced project scope is broadening the reach of the RWR project and having a greater impact across wildfire-prone areas of the United States. Nine Rotary Clubs have become RWR partners in the first 5 months of launching the Rotarians for Wildfire Readiness program (7 Rotary Clubs in Colorado and 2 Rotary Clubs in New Mexico).  The Rotarians for Wildfire Readiness program is combining the force and impact of Rotary Clubs by sharing the same message across the country to help communities prepare for wildfire and to help save lives.
