These words from our Wednesday speaker……………. Katheryn Severns Avery

When my husband, Christopher, was killed December 4, 2020, by three robbery suspects fleeing from police, my life was literally changed in an instant. I was thrust into a world of which I only had a peripheral awareness and which before that day I had virtually no prior contact. It is the world inhabited by those who respond to public safety concerns such as crimes, accidents, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and fires. To an outsider, it’s a world of unfamiliar rules and regulations, jargon, and culture. Yet, it is their world 24/7/365.

In 2021, on April 26 which was Chris’s birthday, I delivered food from Chris’s favorite restaurants to all four shifts at the Lakewood Police Department. I attended four roll calls and experienced firsthand the appreciation of the agents for my acknowledging their service. I also witnessed the difficulty of their jobs. This was when the idea of creating a sanctuary for our police and their families was born. Since then, I have worked tirelessly to honor Chris’s memory with Restoration Ranch Colorado.

We have Allowed Kathryn 40 minutes to tell her story. You will not want to miss it.

We are working hard on the upcoming golf tournament. We need help soliciting $100 Evergreen Hero sponsors. Please let P.J. know if you can help by calling a few prospect businesses. A good performance on Hero sponsors could be the icing on our cake making this tournament ever better.
