The Colorado Years 1858-1878: Denver’s First Family’s Story
Fourth generation South Dakotan and Rotarian Kibbe Brown will share details of Denver’s beginnings in 1858-60, and what role her family had during this time.  She’ll detail, with historical documents and photos, how a her family helped to form a "Mountain Man" community which emerged in LaPorte Colorado, alongside the Cashe La Poudre river until 1878, the year of the family exodus from Colorado.  
 
Kibbe Brown was raised in a home that was very active with Rotary service.  In 1984-85, Kibbe was a Rotary Youth Exchange Student to New Zealand.  Her step-father, Robert Haynes, was the District Governor in District 5950 for the twin cities area of Minnesota.  She joined Rotary in 2009.  Currently, she is a member of Mountain Foothills Rotary, Evergreen, CO.  Additionally, she has hosted 3 Rotary Youth Exchange students: 2010, 2014 and 2016.
