What we do in our Community: Our efforts as members of the Mountain Foothills Rotary Club are directed at many needs we see in the Evergreen area, some current projects and beneficiaries are:
The INSPIRE (Formerly Special Needs) Program - We raise and provide funding, and volunteer time to assist the participants in various programs (Bowling, Horseback riding, skiing, golf, Special Olympics.) (https://www.evergreenrecreation.com/206/INSPIRE)
Evergreen Christian Outreach- We provide volunteer staffing for various projects and collect food on a regular basis for their food bank. (https://evergreenchristianoutreach.org/)
RYLA- (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)- Through our members efforts and a club commitment, 5 scholarships to RYLA , 4 scholarships to Young RYLA, and one scholarship to RYLA Plus have been provided annually to allow young people to participate in this empowering and engaging growth and leadership experience. Crutches 4 Africa- This international program collects unwanted mobility devises (generally in North America and the British Isles) and distributes them free of charge in Africa, the Caribbean and Central America (www.crutches4africa.org)
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) - The Foundation of Rotary International (RI) (www.rotary.org)
Polio Plus- An RI and TRF focus on the eradication of Polio in the word for the last 35 years. On the brink of eliminating this disease and the human suffering that are part of it worldwide (www.polioplus.org)
Highway and parking lot clean-up- Our volunteers regularly assist with cleanup of Highway 74 from Elk Meadow Park to Safeway, and the Memorial Trees along this stretch
Salvation Army Bell Ringing- From Thanksgiving to Christmas each year we volunteer time to staff the Salvation Army Kettles in Evergreen.
9Health Fair cashiering- We assist the 9News Health Fair each year in the mountain communities.
The Foundation of Mountain Foothills Rotary- A 501(c)(3) that works in our community for various humanitarian purposes.
Alpine Rescue Team has responded to wilderness emergencies since 1959: providing mountain search and rescue, day or night, 24/7. http://www.alpinerescueteam.org/
Project Sanctuary believes that every military family has the right and ability to heal. Veterans and service members often struggle to transition into a “new normal” after service or deployment. Faced with higher rates of unemployment, addiction, suicide, and other challenges, military families too often fight their battles alone.
