Thanks to John Jarvis for teaching us about bears. His contention that we are encroaching on their space probably is responsible for the increase in encounters. When we talk about increased population diversity, I never thought about bears. I enclosed some pictures John provided to the extent of the available band width of the club runner platform we use. John also supplied some bear sounds, but the recording was not compatible with club runner. The sounds tape made it clear that the huge bear roars Hollywood uses are overdone. In reality, they are likely to click their teeth or make a low-pitched sound when agitated. Let’s hope we never hear those sounds. At any rate, thank you John.

This week we are at the lake. I know the parking is a problem, but I understand the position of EPRD. There is no where near enough parking for concerts.  Most folks will have to use the shuttle service. Why not sell the meager parking spaces and make a few bucks to pay for some of EPRD’s programs? Our attendance has been disappointing. This is the last Wed. concert so come on….use the shuttle and join the group. The shuttle is actually pretty convenient…about 4 minutes from the Catholic Church. Maybe you can even count it as a trip to church.

Other things that are going on. We have had several guests and hopefully some will want to join. Good attendance will be impressive to guests…a small turnout, not so much.
We are also expanding our club committees. The goal is for each Rotarian to serve on at least one committee. Having committees instead of lone rangers will result in better decisions.

See you at the lake Wednesday.
