Our speaker this week is Cory Vander Veen, the new Executive Director of EPRD. He is a Colorado native born on the front range, married with 2 kids who are 4 and 7 years old. His degrees from Western State College are in Business administration and Outdoor leadership.

His Parks and Recreation experience spans 17 years. In his new assignment as the executive director with Evergreen Park & Recreation District he will  pursue his vision… “incredible programs and facilities that elevate our lives.”
Cory is a fellow Rotarian, and he listens to the community to be able to provide future planning and directions that will make Evergreen an even more incredible community.

As promised, here is the follow-up to Kevin Nichols’ presentation about mental illness in the United States. Federal and State funding has increased significantly, however the demand for Mental Health services continues to outpace the supply of licensed providers. Suicide, overdoses, youth mental health issues continue to increase significantly in Colorado and nationally. If you want to learn more or become a part of solutions contact one of these Rotarians:

I appreciate the words and emotion with which Jaime Rich addressed our inability to marshal enough Rotarians to sell ice melt tickets. We appreciate those who responded and hope to field a team next weekend. The weather forecast is good.  We all have different motivations for committing to help. For me, it’s funding additional activities for Maren’s kids. It’s providing funds for EChO as they assist people who need a helping hand, and It’s the videos Dave Talbot shares showing the joy of people who experience mobility for the first time in their lives.  What’s your call to action trigger?
