This Wednesday as we are meeting, the nation will be commemorating the day of infamy, the cowardly attack of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese in 1941. As awful as the toll of Americans was, the attack may have saved the free world. Clearly Great Britain would not have been able to defeat the Axis countries without the United States. But until the Pearl Harbor attack, our nation was mired in an “America first” mentality which committed us to inaction concerning the war.  Millions did as my father did, immediately joining the army. We finally entered the war, and the rest is history. It took four years, but British and American determination won the war saving the world.

Perhaps on Wed. we should take a moment to remember our heroes.

This week’s speaker is our president, T.J. Carney. We know that every Rotarian has a story to share. T. J. has something to share about his law career.  T.J. lists as his key skills civil law trials, personal and business planning and training and teaching. He is a graduate of Notre Dame University, and the University of Denver Law.

He was a partner of Bradley, Campbell and Carney for 10 years, but preferred running his sole proprietor law practice of Carney Law. He has stepped up to serve a second term as our president. I am personally looking forward to our friend’s story.

Don’t forget to RSVP for the holiday party at Mount Vernon on the Dec. 18th. It will begin with a social time at 6 PM and dinner at 6:45. The menu choices are salmon and pork. Please let TJ know you will be coming. There will be a gift exchange of items supplied by our secret shoppers.  We will also have a new rendition of the Mountain Foothills Rotary Christmas Carole. Hope you can join the holiday festivities.
